All the results are in. You folks in St. Louis are no doubt
going to have a week or two of Post Super Bowl party
time! Congratulations to you fans that supported the team.
Growing up in Kansas, I always pulled for the Chiefs, but
it was nice to see the cross state rivals pull it off. I'm sure
TV execs did not like the match up. I mean St. Louis vs.
Nashville! Talk about 2 small market teams. I'm sure they
would have rather seen a California vs. a New York team.
From an Internet marketer's point of view, there were
plenty of things to cheer for, regardless of what team
you were pulling for. The Super Bowl has always been
the medium that advertisers use to debut their new
commercials. If you are a net marketer, you probably
could not help but notice that 70 to maybe even 80%
of the commercials were .com or Internet related. There
was:
eds.com and the heard driving cowboys (not of the Dallas
variety), driving their cat heard to market! (what was that
all about anyway? I have no idea, but it was an interesting
commercial, and I will probably go to the web site to see
what it is they are selling).
Then there was the old boxer - Ali punching at us on the
screen. The old champ does not do well at speaking much
any more, but they say he does know full well what is going
on. And hey, WebMD.com was no doubt paying Mohammed
some BIG money to star in their commercial.
The self acclaimed Worst Ad on the S.B. telecast was
Lifeminders.com. I have no idea what they were selling,
but I will be going there today to look at their ad packages.
It sounded as if they might have some type of online advertising
program?
This all points to what we have been saying for months here
in OIO. The net is the way to go, and BIG business sees that.
The good news for all of us small marketers is that the net
somewhat puts us on a level playing field with the BIG guys.
Oh, we may not be able to spend the hundreds of thousands
it takes to get our commercial on the Super Bowl program,
but we can compete and draw attention to our sites online
in many other ways. A unique niche would be nice, but even
that is not necessary. All we have to do is be out there doing
something! Promoting, marketing, working, and we too can
have online success. Are you going to stand idly by and watch
this Entrepreneurs dream digital Era pass you by?
Even in his state of the union message, the President of the U.S.
highlighted the net as being one of, if not THE most promising
features of our "New Digital Economy".
