The first step most MLM'ers take is to set up a web site that they can refer prospects to. These sites typically will cover the MLM product, marketing plan, ect. Now here is the problem - You now have to get people over to your site. Let's assume that you are a Noni distributor (I pick on Noni distributors here because we have helped hundreds of them sell thousands of dollars worth of product with our HEALTHY TIMES newspapers, and recruit hundreds of distributors with our other tools for Noni juice from Tahiti - see http://www.kosoma.com/advertisenow.html If you want more info on Noni send a blank email to Noni@kosoma.com ) and you want to get people to visit your site on Noni. You may use Classified ads that say "AS SEEN ON ROSIE O'DONNEL - ALL NATURAL JUICE FROM TAHITI CHANGES LIVES" or Helps blind Lady see, or helps woman walk or whatever else you want your ad to say. Now, this ad may indeed draw some people to your site, BUT - What About All the People Who Are Just Not Interested in natural remedies or health food of any kind? Also, what about the folks who never see your ad to begin with? Then what?
You see, your site is too general, too vague! You might say "Well, I am looking only for people who are interested in Noni". Let me share a little MLM secret with you. Your Best Builders Are Going To Be Folks Who Are More Interested In Making Money Than In Your Product! Sure there may be a person or two that come in on fire about the product and really do well. But, if you have just one person that is really interested in the possibilities of the business, he will get all those product users too! The product might attract them, but the business opportunity will be what keeps them working, building, earning you residual income! Your offer needs to be geared toward BUSINESS BUILDERS!
HOW TO DESIGN YOUR MLM RECRUITING MACHINE WEB SITE
In the above example of a Noni site, the distributor is stuck with getting people over to the site who are interested in product. That is OK and needed, BUT, you need to have a site that will automatically attract people OF ALL TYPES. Traffic is the name of the game online! If you have traffic, you will earn Profits! If you are trying to recruit MLM distributors, your high traffic site is the key. A few people will be interested in the MLM opportunity, some will be interested in your product or service, some won't be interested in anything. SO WHAT? NEXT! It is a numbers game and you are trying to reach the largest audience possible.
It is a good idea to have some other income producing offers on your site as well. This way you can at least break even on the investment in your site. You should seriously consider getting your own Domain if you haven't already. Many of the online crowd just do not take you too seriously if you don't have a Domain and Name of your own - YOURNAME.COM (for more information send for our FREE REPORT - WHY YOU NEED A DOMAIN IF YOU REALLY WANT TO MAKE MONEY ONLINE! If you arrange this correctly you will be earning a nice income whether anyone joins your MLM program or not.
The idea of marketing online involves offering something FREE and then including your sales offer. You have no doubt noticed this philosophy everywhere on the Internet. You need to incorporate this in your sales plan as well. Free Reports are very popular. You might write a report "HOW TO IMPROVE YOUR FINANCIAL PICTURE IN 90 DAYS" (I might write that one myself). In your Free Report you offer something of value that will help people to Look Better, Feel Better, Make Money, Improve Their Love Life etc. (these are the main things people are interested in by the way).
In the Noni example, your report could honestly tell them how to accomplish all of the above! What might be better though is to have a different report for each topic. They all will be leading to the same thing - NONI (or whatever other offer you are in to). This way, your topics will attract the attention of a wider audience. Again, it is a numbers game and we are looking for Large numbers to respond. Some will, some won't, so what? NEXT! That is the beauty of Online MLM, you can accomplish this automatically without handling any rejection. You will only be talking to those that respond and are interested! You might be able to also have online sign up forms ect. and completely automate the whole process. Then you will need to keep in contact with your new distributors via your online team newsletter!
Remember, the idea is to have a web site (preferably your own domain) that attracts a lot of visitors, has plenty of appealing offers, and gives people a reason to return to see your site again. Some of these visitors will click on your MLM opportunity or product offer and become interested in it. Those who are not interested may purchase something else or pull up a FREE REPORT you offer, or place a free ad, or link to your page or whatever else you offer! Give them a reason to come back, and they just might get interested in your MLM on a later visit!
NEVER PRESENT A TAKE IT OR LEAVE IT OFFER
This was a rule I learned early in my mail order sales as a child. This same philosophy holds true online as well! Many web sites seem to be saying - "this is what I have to offer, here it is, do you want it or not?" You can do okay with that type of approach if you are offering a Resellers Program franchise, or you are the MLM company. I just don't think it works well with your MLM distributor offer! Especially if it is a product oriented plan. At the very least the option you offer should be to try the product. Maybe a free sample or a small purchase. So many MLM'ers push Only the Opportunity but don't give the prospect a chance to order the product.
Now wait a minute, you might be saying to yourself. Didn't you just say that we need to look for folks interested in the Opportunity? Yes, I did. Those are the type of people that you want to draw to your site (there are many more people interested in income than there are in any one, or line of product). Once they are there, give them some options. One option should be to purchase and/or try the product! You won't mind having a few product users. In fact, you need some in most Network Marketing Companies. You might even create a follow up Online Newsletter or Ezine just for your product users. The main focus of this should be to show them the benefits of becoming distributors!
DON'T FORGET TO OFFER YOUR WEB ADDRESS IN EVERYTHING YOU DO
Do you have a signature file at the end of all your emails that has a link to your site? Do you have your web address and email listed on your business cards, envelopes, letterhead and anything else you use in your business? If not, Why Not? You are missing opportunities to promote your product or service. Get into the habit of promoting your URL everywhere you go, everyday! If you do any advertising list your URL. If you send a fax, list your URL. This may sound simple, But I see a lot of people who don't do this! Do you?
This market with everything you do routine, also screams that you must have your own domain name! It looks better in print, sounds better on your answering machine and voice mail box ect. YOURNAME.COM is Very Important. Sure you can link all your web sites together, but it is so much more professional to have everything tied in to the same web address. With your own Domain you could have pages that describe any and all of your products & services and only have to remember or list one URL. Just be sure that your main page links to all your offers and/or has a search function on it. As time goes by you may develop hundreds or even Thousands of pages. Your own domain can handle the growth. Most MLM'ers don't get a domain. They use FREE PAGES (FREEYELLOW, FREE OFFICE - there are a ton of them out there), and don't earn any real money online.
In the past, with what are fast becoming Old Fashion techniques, I whole heartedly felt that you had to stick with one thing, one opportunity. I still feel that way to a certain respect when you are dealing with off-line marketing. But, online I see a time when it will be very common for a savvy marketer to have several opportunities (MLM or otherwise) and be successful with all of them. In fact, that is what some of the more successful MLM'ers are doing right now - Multiple Streams of Income. With the failure rate in MLM companies this really makes sense! Also, to have some of those streams be made up of non MLM income.
